Observing the Assumption Post, it is important to know not only about nutrition

This publication examines the Assumptiononly from the position of proper nutrition. The fact is that believers and people approaching God are often interested in exactly what can and can not be eaten these days. But the meaning of fasting is not simply a complete or partial refusal of food. In days when you can eat those or other dishes, the diet can also not be put on the first place. What is important then?

It's no secret that the most important and sacred bookfor Christians is the Bible. Such a phrase as "Orthodox fast" is missing in it, but enough is written about how to fast properly. In particular, the eighth chapter of the Book of Ezra narrates that the teacher of the law by the name of Ezra proclaims a fasting whose goal is humility before the Lord. At that time, the scribe, together with other believers, appealed to Heavenly Father for a blessing for his people: a safe road and protection of property. It is written that the fasting people were heard by the Lord and received an answer.

Another man of God is the prophet Daniel alsopracticed fasting. In this state, in which he stayed for 21 days, the canonical texts were translated as "mourning." This same word from the 10th chapter of the book of Daniel can be translated as: "cry, cry, mourn, lament, mourn, sad." In addition, the Prophet did not eat bread and completely abandoned meat and wine. As a result, the Angel appeared to him and transmitted a message from God.

It is important to understand and understand that we can complain andshould be at home, in a secluded place, and not in public. On the contrary, Jesus Christ calls hypocrites people who fast to show off, so that everyone can see their piety. Believers of the Gospel recommend washing your face and anoint your head. The meaning of fasting in this case is to appear before the Heavenly Father in humility, and before people in their usual form. With regard to nutrition, Christ did not say anything, but all believers know that He, at least once, did not eat for forty days. It is important to understand that any Orthodox fast has a biblical basis and can be either full or partial refusal of food and drink.

The Assumption Fast is named in honor of the Day of Assumption.Blessed Virgin. It lasts exactly ten days (in 2012: 14.08 - 28.08) and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary who gave birth to the Savior of the human race. As you can see, it is not long, but it is considered quite strict. In this respect, it is even compared to the Great Post. For almost the entire length of it, Christians refrain not only from meat, but also from fish. A bit like Daniel's fasting, but it is important to remember that the prophet paid his main attention not to the diet, but to his inner person.

Here is Jesus, the Son born of the Most HolyVirgin, recommends to be in a certain state of the Spirit before the Father. In this case, since it is the Assumption Fast, then believers who honor Mary will, of course, pray before her icon. But the general principles remain unchanged, and in the first place is spiritual concentration. Of course, as during Great, and any other post, noisy entertainment is unacceptable, you should not only avoid quarrels, but also forgive all offenders and ask you to forgive.

On Saturdays and Sundays of the Assumption Lentit is allowed to add vegetable oil to food, and also it is possible to drink wine. When the Transfiguration of the Lord comes, then on this day you can eat fish dishes, add oil to food. On the same day you are allowed to drink some wine. Tuesday, Thursday are the days of fasting, in which traditionally oil is not added to food, and Wednesday and Friday imply dry food.

This does not mean that water should not be drunk at all, but these days it is necessary to limit its consumption, not to cook food with water, and refrain from cooking oil.

You can cook, for example, in the microwave. Ouspensky fasting, despite severity, we love believers. It is short, and by this time, as you know, a lot of fruits appear.
