The history of the development and creation of the model includesitself a lot of stages. Ever since the Soviet Union, the Gorky Automobile Plant has been the absolute leader in the production of medium-tonnage trucks. It was at this time that the question of creatinga small low-tonnage car, as not everyone could contain a huge and voracious GAZ-53. Gorky Design Bureau has started to create a completely new series of low-tonnage machines, which then will be called "Gazelle" among the people. Originally it was planned to create onboard "Gazelek", but in 1996 the Gorky plant started serial production of the GAZ-32213 minibus.
